Look at all the gorgeous little boys I got to photograph last week. Cooper was so, so good for me! And what a little model he was – even smiling for the camera!
And in case you missed it, Cooper was also the star of last Friday’s blog post. I think he was a good luck charm! (Go Saints!)
I had the pleasure of photographing this little cutie just before I left for a short vacation. I just loved his strawberry blond hair and plump little cheeks!
Look at those cheeks! Ella was a dream to photograph… she slept great and had the sweetest disposition when she was awake. In fact, I don’t think she made a peep the entire session!
It’s taken me a while to finalize the details, but at long last, the holiday mini sessions are ready! So without further ado, here they are (drumroll please!)… the Christmas in October mini-sessions!

The session package fee of $300 is due at the time of booking to reserve your timeslot. All timeslots are given out on a first come-first served basis.

These twins were so cute and fun and good together it was amazing. Silliness, goofiness – and hugs that turn into WWE style moves – abounded, but nevertheless the bond they share is unmistakable.
Yes, you read that correctly. This blog post’s title says “teen photographer.” Yikes! Big people? Big people who stand still and look at me when I ask them too?? It’s a whole new world! But I couldn’t resist when my friend Jeanne said her daughter Macy had just one request for her birthday… a photo session in the French Quarter with her ballet tutu. Macy is a wonderful and very dedicated ballet student and we wanted to take the opportunity to really do something fun. To show off her love of ballet, her gorgeous new tutu and her beautiful self against the colorful backdrop that is quintessential New Orleans. And despite the heat and the gawkers (we were traipsing around the Quarter in a tutu after all!) I think we achieved all of our objectives.
And on a funny sidenote, we even got to talking with John Thomas Griffith, singer and guitarist for one of my favorite bands, Cowboy Mouth while we were finishing up the shoot. All in all, a memorable trip to the Quarter. (Now to see if I can get the video clips he took of us as we were shooting!)
The Good: The resort we went to, La Torretta, on Lake Conroe in Texas was wonderful. They had a fantastic splash area for little kids that Dylan LOVED, as well as a smaller baby splash area, a pool with two large waterslides, a lazy river and another “quiet” pool. The grounds were pretty (but could use more shade!) and the service was excellent. We really, really enjoyed it and would definitely go back.
The Bad: I got sunburned. Badly. So now I’m an itchy, peel-y mess. Fun, right? Oh well, it was worth it!
The Ugly: The trip there. Miserable desn’t begin to cover it. The plan was to leave shortly after lunch on Wednesday, drive to Houston, stayovernight, and head to the resort Thursday morning. HA! At 3 p.m. on Wednesday my husband was still fixing the trailer lights on the boat. At 5 p.m. he finally had them rigged up and we could leave. We jumped in the car and got about 5 minutes down the road when we realize the SUV has a broken hose and is leaking anti-freeze everywhere. We spend another hour in the Pep Boys parking lot fixing the broken hose. By now it’s past 6 p.m. and Houston is at least 5-6 hours away. We get on the road again. And get about an hour or so further along when the air suspension goes out. So for the next two hours we had to stop at every gas station we saw to manually fill up the air suspension system. Around11 p.m. we finally got toLake Charles (normally only 3 hours away) and decided to call it a night. Did I mention that a fuse also burned out so we had no radio or air conditioning in the car? Yeah, gotta love that.
We finally got to Houston the next morning. We (and by “we” I mean my husband and father in law) spent a few more hours messing around with the car and finally got to the resort Thursday afternoon. I’ve never been happier to see a pool and a glass of wine! The trip did have a happy ending though as we were able to get the parts we needed overnighted and have a much nicer drive home.
And the rest: Clearly, I’m back! I think I’m now fully caught back up on email. I’ve got a few galleries to finish up and release, and I’m hard at work designing a couple coffee table books. I have a stack of orders to sort through and package up so have a bit of patience with me, I should have it all wrapped up soon!
I’m on my way out the door for vacation, but I managed to schedule one last blog post so I don’t keep Violet’s mom waiting. Violet was feeling a bit serious the morrning of her session, but we managed to coax some smiles from her. And smiling or not, how can go you wrong with such a sweet, pretty baby girl? Adorable!
