I’m on my way out the door for vacation, but I managed to schedule one last blog post so I don’t keep Violet’s mom waiting.  Violet was feeling a bit serious the morrning of her session, but we managed to coax some smiles from her. And smiling or not, how can go you wrong with such a sweet, pretty baby girl? Adorable!

OUT OF OFFICE

July 28, 2010

I will be taking a few days off this week to enjoy my family, as well as some much-needed relaxation. I will not have access to email or voicemail. I will return all calls and emails next week when I get back. Thank you!

I’m not typically one for airing my beliefs or personal values or things of that nature on my blog. But in this case I do feel the need to say a bit more than I normally would in a sneak peek. Because this session introduced me to three people that have come together to give one precious little baby everything that they can. I have to admit, I wasn’t sure what to expect when I arrived at the session. A maternity session for a biological mother and adoptive parents is an entirely new scenario for me. But I was immediately struck by how warm of a  relationship S, M, and K have together. How comfortable they are together.  And how committed they all are to the new life that S is carrying.

I believe in adoption. I believe in mothers that commit to not only giving life to the new little person they carry, but also commit to giving them better lives than they themselves can provide. I believe in families that desperately want to make their lives complete by nurturing, raising and loving these little people. I believe that love is 100 times more important than blood. And I believe in the love, hope and unselfishness that brings people together. Together to give one new little person, not just life, but the best possible life. My own life has been touched by adoption. I have five adopted cousins – cousins that originally hail from all over the world. China. Korea. Lithuania. In another life wemight ever have known one another. We don’t share blood, but we share so much more. We share history, love, memories, and a life built together.

M, K + S - I wish you all the best as you travel this journey together.

The Christmas in October holiday mini sessions are tentatively slated for Saturday, Oct. 16 with a rain date of Sunday, Oct. 17. The rest of the details are still being hashed out – I’ll post as soon as they are finalized!

I had the pleasure of recently heading to the French Quarter with the J family. It was HOT, but we had lots of fun and the kids were so good! Big brother G loved teaching me how to jump and little brother P was full of smiles.

I love this… doesn’t G look very GQ?

I just loved this adorable soon-to-be-family-of-four. Not only are they gorgeous, but also so relaxed and willing to try anything. Their ease in front of the camera, combined with some yummy, yummy light made for some maternity portraits that I just adore. Enjoy M family! I can’t wait to meet th new little one very soon.

Look who it is! Miss Campbell is already 3 months old and so bright-eyed and curious. I can’t wai to see her for he 6 mnth session next.

Atlas is already a strong little guy! He had definite ideas on how he wanted to be posed (and how he didn’t want to be posed!) But he was still so sleepy and squishable – just adorable! Congrats J+T – your sweet new guy is beautiful.

I love the opportunity to do something a little different. So I was thrilled when Reeden’s mom told me they had an empty French Quarter apartment with great light at our disposal or Reeden’s session. And the apartment certainly lived up to my expectations. The light was fantastic and I loved the open space to play with different props. I think Reeden loved it too! He slept so well as I moved him  from basket to bowl to box. In fact he barely made a peep until the end. And I loved his light fuzzy hair and blue eyes.

All I can say is… WOW. So far this year has been my busiest ever.  And here we are in July and I’m still busy, busy, busy. Yes, an on-location photographer in Southeast Louisiana in July, and I’m off-my-feet busy. Crazy, right? But wonderful and amazing too.

All that business comes with a price though… namely lots of late nights and far too much alone time with my computer.  So in the interst of my sanity and my family, I will be closing down for the month of August. If you are already on my calendar in August – not to worry!  I’m not canceling any sessions, just drastically cutting back on the number of sessions I normally take. This will allow me to get 100% caught up before the fall rush, as well as get some much needed quality time in with my boys – all three of them!

And speaking of the fall rush, I still have a few openings in July – thanks to a cancelled vacation (way to go BP!) – including next weekend, so if you want a session and don’t want to wait until September, email me as soon as possible. In addition, my September calendar is now open and I’ll be pulling together the details for my Christmas in October mini-sessions very soon. If you want a fall session, please contact me early, September – November book up very quickly!

I hope you are all having a wonderful, safe and joy-filled summer!
